What did he say? Before leaving earth, Jesus impressed on his followers the importance of teaching his teachings to others. He said,
"All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age". Matthew 28:18-20
Sounds important! At the core of the curriculum of the Church is the teaching of Jesus.
St. Paul's version of this states,
"Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts". Colossians 3:16
Again, sounds important!
Where do we find this teaching? How can we access this wisdom? In its purest form, it's found in the New Testament Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. And the broader implications of Jesus' teaching are spelled out in the Letters (Epistles) of the New Testament.
Of what value is Jesus' teaching? It enables us to flourish. It serves as sign posts to the life we've always wanted... The Good Life.
